El Triunfo
A beautifully restored 19th-century silver-mining town of brick, music and legendary pie in the Baja foothills.
Half an hour into the sierra from La Paz, El Triunfo boomed as Baja's silver-mining capital in the 1800s, then nearly vanished. Today it's lovingly revived — a Pueblo con Encanto of brick chimneys, artisan workshops, a superb mining-and-music museum and a café famous across the peninsula for its pie.
Silver, brick and music
El Triunfo's iconic 47-metre brick smokestack, 'La Ramona,' still marks the skyline. The town's Museo Ruta de Plata tells the silver story, while the beloved Casa de la Música celebrates a surprising legacy: pianos shipped around Cape Horn for the mining elite.
