An hour north of Cabo on the Pacific, Todos Santos trades resorts for artists' studios, an oasis of palms and mango orchards, and some of Baja's best waves. Its restored brick town — a designated Pueblo Mágico — hums with galleries, farm-to-table kitchens and the famous (if unrelated) Hotel California.
A Pueblo Mágico
Todos Santos earned Mexico's 'Magic Town' status for its colonial architecture, arts scene and setting. Galleries and boutiques fill 19th-century brick buildings around the Teatro Márquez de León and the mission church.
Surf & the Pacific
The coast delivers world-class point and beach breaks — Cerritos for beginners, Los Cerritos and San Pedrito for more. Strong currents make most beaches better for surfing and sunsets than swimming.

- Most Todos Santos beaches have dangerous rip currents; swim only where locals do, at Los Cerritos' protected corner.
- The town is compact and walkable, but you'll want a car to reach the beaches and Cabo/La Paz.
- The Hotel California is not the one from the Eagles song — but it's still a fun stop and shop.
Know Before You Go
November to May for warm, dry days and clean surf. The Todos Santos music and art festivals in winter are worth timing a trip around.
Milder than Cabo thanks to the Pacific — cooler, breezier days and an oasis-green town. Winters are ideal; summers warm but tempered by ocean air.
About an hour from either Cabo San Lucas or La Paz by car on Highway 19. A rental car is the easiest way to explore the beaches and day-trip.
A safe, welcoming small town. The real hazard is the surf — respect currents and warning signs on Pacific beaches.
