The East Cape (Cabo del Este) is the rugged, largely undeveloped stretch of coast running north from San José del Cabo toward Los Barriles. It rewards adventurers with remote beaches, epic sportfishing, off-road desert and the crown jewel of the Sea of Cortez — Cabo Pulmo's protected coral reef.
Wild by design
Much of the East Cape remains gloriously undeveloped, with long stretches reachable only by dirt road. That's the appeal: solitude, star-filled skies, and a coastline where luxury eco-resorts sit beside empty golden beaches and one of the planet's great marine parks.

Know Before You Go
Summer and fall for warm, clear diving water; winter for cooler adventures and fewer travellers.
Warm, dry and clear; late summer and fall bring the best water visibility for diving.
45 minutes to 1.5 hours from Los Cabos airport (SJD) depending on how far you go. A car — ideally high-clearance/4x4 — is essential.
Remote but safe; the main risks are rough roads and the ocean. Prepare for limited services and dive within your limits.
